Barron Trump to Take Center Stage as Florida Delegate at Republican Convention

NBC News has reported that Barron Trump, the youngest child of former President Donald Trump, will serve as a Florida delegate at the Republican National Convention. This development marks a significant step into the political spotlight for Barron, who has largely been kept out of the public eye until now.

According to a list of delegates obtained by NBC News, Barron was picked by the Republican Party of Florida on Wednesday night as one of the state's at-large delegates to the convention. This news comes just a week before Barron is set to graduate from high school.

In other news, Andrew Warren, a former Hillsborough County State Attorney, has raised $100,000 in less than two weeks after formally entering the contest to secure his old job. Warren was suspended by Governor Ron DeSantis, who replaced him with Republican Suzy Lopez. Warren will need to get through a primary against Elizabeth Martinez Strauss, who has expressed concerns that DeSantis may suspend Warren again if he wins.

"When you're running big budget surpluses you've got to be able to return some of that back to the taxpayers," DeSantis said.

Meanwhile, Governor DeSantis signed a major tax package this week that is expected to save taxpayers more than $900 million over the next two years. The package includes temporarily eliminating insurance premium taxes for homeowner and flood policies, as well as setting up four different sales tax holidays.

The Florida Retail Federation (FRF) also spoke out in favor of the measure, saying that it will provide significant savings for families and support local businesses.

In our weekly game of winners and losers, Florida taxpayers were named honorable mention for benefiting from the tax package. Donald Trump was almost named the biggest winner, but was edged out by higher education in Florida, which was ranked No. 1 in the country by U.S. News and World Report.

  • Florida taxpayers, who will save over $900 million over the next two years.
  • Higher education in Florida, which was ranked No. 1 in the country.
  • Donald Trump, who received positive legal news this week.

On the other hand, Jared Moskowitz was named dishonorable mention for crossing a line with his attack dog mentality, which occasionally leads him to make offensive comments.

Florida education as a whole received good news, with the state ranking No. 1 in higher education tuition and fees, and No. 2 in graduation rates for both two-year and four-year college degrees. However, the state still has some sore spots, including low K-12 teacher pay and below-average math scores.

Despite these challenges, Florida's education system is currently setting kids up for success, with high graduation rates and low tuition fees.
